Mental Health

The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) aims to identify the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing the mental health service. Specialised mental health staff work within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified roles; thus providing an integrated and culturally appropriate environment for Aboriginal consumers, families and carers.

Headspace centers act as a one-stop shop for young people who need help with mental health, physical health (including sexual health), alcohol and other drugs or work and study support.

The Mental Health Line is available to everyone in NSW and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 1800 011 511

At the Mental Health Movement, we draw on the power of story and lived experience of our facilitators. These personal stories and experiences of dealing with mental health issues and the social pressures that come with them, help to connect with individuals, remove the stigma often associated with speaking up, and give participants the permission to share their own personal experiences.
